Microsoft services can take up a pretty big chunk of your digital experience, especially if you are using a Microsoft email account, a Windows based PC or Tablet, an Xbox or a Windows phone. In the past, before all of these devices and services were unified, most of us had separate accounts, which can cause many problems, especially with your Xbox Live gamer tag that is now used across all Microsoft platforms. This article will take you through moving your gamertag onto your main Microsoft account so that all of your achievements and purchases are kept in one place.

How do I transfer an Xbox gamer tag?

I want to transfer a gamer tag from my Xbox account to my son's on Xbox One?

Just follow the steps provided above to download the account onto your son's Xbox One account, and he will be able to use it.

Can you transfer one gamertag data to another gamertag?

My son set up one gamertag on Xbox 360 and another gamertag on Xbox one. We have a Live Gold subscription on the Xbox one and I don't want to buy another Gold subscription for the 360. Can I combine the two GamerTags?

Merging Gamer Tags is not a simple or straightforward process. The reason for this is to prevent cheaters and hackers from merging their accomplishments across accounts. There are ways you can do this though, some of which involve merging offline account information so that it later syncs with the Xbox servers. However, in almost every case, this can cause you or your son to be labeled as a cheater or an exploiter by the system.

Your best route is to call Microsoft Support, where you purchased the Gold account, and see if they are able to help you.

Hi iv been locked out of my Xbox live account?

Iv been locked out of my Xbox live account if I create a new one will I still get my remaining subscription. I have tried: Rang Xbox support. I think it was caused by: Forgot my security password

Re-association of Microsoft accounts with Xbox Gamertags?

Hello, I found with the intro of Windows 10 and "sync" on devices/PC's.... my sons and my gamin experience and digital life became hell! In 2012 I created one Xbox gamer-tag for the Xbox 360 along with one Xbox live gold membership. It was not until the intro of Xbox one that a need for my own gamer-tag, separate from my son's became apparent. The issue I am facing is that I am unable to change my sons gamer-tag associated Microsoft account (the gamer-tag in particular) over to a "child" microsoft account because the MS acct it is associated with is my original MS acct with my birth-date..... So I am unable to set restrictions, time limits, limit purchase etc for his account. I did create a MS family account, and see the option to create a "child" MS account..... do I create a child MS account, with new email.... then add that email as an "alias" to the MS account his gamer-tag is currently associated with, verify it, then change the new email/child MS acct as the primary "alias" and delete the original (2012 MS acct email)? I believe I this will work but ONLY because the email I used back in 2012 was a Yahoo email, 3rd party..not an outlook/live/html. I want to ask before I try it...... hypothetically this should work though correct? The only question that is similar in nature is not answered quite right..... ALL of the other questions seem to be asking what I am asking however, none have been responded to. The answer provided seems to assume that it is only the gamer-tag that needs to be re-associated, it does NOT reference the Microsoft account as a whole, which is what the Xbox Live, gamer-tag, Office, Windows user logins etc have become. 1 MS acct., 1 email, 1 platform connecting everything. I have been successful in creating new MS accounts, making sure to utilize a 3rd party email address rather than the assigned Outlook email provided, and then changing the MS acct associated with gamertags via use of the alias; verifying the email, and then changing then new email/MS acct to be primary. My questions is if there is anything else I need to do before closing the original MS accounts. I have tried: Created new Gmail, entered as alias in said MS account. Changed to primary email associated with MS account, then removed original email from the MS account, successfully reassigning the gamer-tag/MS account to a new email. HOWEVER.... I am finding that the original emails from the MS accounts are linked behind the scenes to my PARENT MS account, so I fear there is something I am missing....perhaps related to the "appdata/roaming" files located on my C drive? Not sure though. I think it was caused by: I am signed into most home devices via my Microsoft account or Google account. I use my Gmail as the email for my main MS account. I recently removed my MS account from a user login on my windows 10 PC. I then assigned the user login to my son, using his MS account...the one associated to his Xbox gamer-tag. By being signed into my MS account on the computer and the Xbox at the same time as my son, I fear there is a background feature setting I did not know to toggle that has now linked our MS accounts somehow.

I have everything confused on my son's Xbox one and wish you could help?

I set up a gamertag for him when he first had a system but used my email because he didn't have one. I bought a year's subscription to Xbox Live and he was using that fine. That was back in October.. Now he has a new Xbox One system and can't seem to get connected in the right gamertag. When I was trying to figure the whole thing out I thought I had to set up my own account on PC so now we have TWO gamertags and he presently is using mine "CrimsonCrib" and his is "Tachyonicbore". My dilemma is this: How can I get his original gamertag on his Xbox One (the tachyonicbore one) and delete the CrimsonCrib one (Because I don't need it).

He now has his own email, microsoft account and Apple ID so we don't get this confused anymore.

Presently I am paying TWO subscriptions to Xbox Live and would like to be able to cancel one of them. HELP! I have tried: Tried signing in using the Xbox one system with my email address but can't get anywhere with it. It is signed into the CrimsonCrib2 account but won't allow me to sign into Tachyonicbore33. I think it was caused by: I have absolutely no idea! confusion where the two accounts are using the same email probably?

How to play downloaded games forever from a 2nd hand Xbox one?

I bought an Xbox one that has downloaded games on it. I can still sign in the original account of the previous owner and it's the home console. I added my profile to the console and can play the games under my sign in. Will the games be there now forever or what else can I do to ensure they do? Will they expire when his gold expires. I have gold.

Is it possible to link/sync my two different email Xbox one accounts together?

I didn't realize I made two separate accounts on my Xbox one, therefore having two different gamer tags. The second account I made has more data and game experience than my first account I intended to have. Could I sync/link my second account to my first account on Xbox one? My second account only has one game that I have advanced a lot in however my first account has more games that I have advanced in as well. I would like to combine them so my gamer credits are all combined in one account on Xbox one console. Please help me.

Can I create another Outlook account and keep my achievements and gamerscore?

I cannot sign into my Outlook account and I'm to the point where I am going to create another one. I need to know if I will keep my stuff. I really don't want to take the risk and possibly lose everything I have done in the past year or so.. I have tried: I have tried all of the sign in combinations that are possible. They aren't working though. I think it was caused by: Not writing down what the username and password correctly

How difficult is it to switch a gamer tag to a new account and will it disrupt an existing account?

My son has an Xbox and has been using my Microsoft account information to log in and out of it since he was a teenager. Of course this was all automatic for years and I never bothered to keep up with it. He has his own job and credit card for purchases. I want to clear that up and get him off of my account for security reasons. Would the easiest thing be to have him set up his own Microsoft account and then just switch the gamer-tag to that account or is this some complicated thing I have to unravel? This will be transferring from one person to another and not to a new device. I have tried: Nothing yet - afraid to get everything tied up in knots. I think it was caused by: He was just a teenager with no accounts. He has been using my account for years

Hey I don't have an x box so how do I have an account?

I don't have an Xbox? Is their an account or is it a mistake? thank you. I just want to not have any more online presence than I have to. I have tried: Can't nothing How long do I have to make a one word answer can't make nothing any longer. I think it was caused by: Windows stared an account with a virtual modem and router and took my place as admin. Sounds crazy it's not. Crazy doesn't exist today...lol
